CAR GURUS! PLEASE HELP WITH RADIO INSTALL!

Hello, I bought a radio for my car and tried to install it for the first time ever today. I bought the proper harness and began to install. I only have two speakers in my car so I connected red (power) to red green to green purple to purple yellow to yellow etc. My harness had a wire option for dimmer and another for dashboard however my radio did not have wires to connect with these. I cannot get my dash lights to work and it is very annoying and dangerous. I even tried unplugging everything and it still won't work. Any ideas?

So it's possible I burned out the lights just by doing the install wrong?

Well that probably means your tail lights aren't working either. I'd look at the fuses as stated above. It could also just be an incomplete circuit since you don't have dimmer on the radio and the oem radio does.

look in ur manual for which fuse corrosponds to the dash lights, then check that fuse.

and tape up the wires you didnt use for goodness sakes!

Thanks for the advice. BTW what if I replace the fuse and it blows again?

then you need to tape up the wires you didnt use. It sounds like one of your wires is grounding out. If its not that, then you have some serious issues.
