car gurus: can you analyze this clutch for me?

Clutch does not look that bad. Not much wear. You can see some of the threads have been pulled off, prob. either when it was breaking in or dumping the clutch.

But overall not that bad, at least that is what the pic is showing.
 
Generally speaking, if you have to push the clutch pedal more than halfway down, it's time to start looking into a new one from my past experience, hope this helps 🙂

You can adjust the clutch engagement point and pedal position. For instance, my 90' Ranger's clutch doesn't engage until I nearly have the pedal all the way up, but my friends 02' Maxima's clutch grabs almost off the floor. Its just different for most cars.

From those pics, the clutch looks to be in pretty good condition. 3000rpm dumps don't do too much to it unless you do them in rapid succession.

I thought you were supposed to push it all the way down anyway.
 
thats not bad at all,
i got a new clutch about a month ago and it was desolated (all worn out, the discs were flat and very close to the metal nails )
 
Looks like it didn't need to be pulled out of the car yet, if that's what you're asking 🙂

It has some life left in it.

What made you pull it in the first place? Bored? 😉

This discoloration on the metal parts of the disc make it look like it was ridden a bit but the material itself looks to be in pretty good shape. I also prematurely, as it was, replaced my clutch. Next time, it ain't coming out until I can feel it slipping.

That discoloration is normal. Notice the metal is all the same color. it is just the protective coating. If it were rainbow over the same piece of steel, then it will have overheated, and is toast.

Looks just fine to me. Shoot it with some cleaner, lube the pilot and release bearing (hell, replace the bearing if you already have it out, they are cheap, and you may as well do it now) and call it a day. As long as the flywheel is not machined, you should be cool. There looks to be a good 40-50k miles left on that easy.

I hope you just have it set on the flywheel for the pic though. If it was installed exactly the way it is pictured, then get a new clutch and resurface the flywheel, as it was installed backwards.

yeah it was just for the pics that i showed the flywheel side.

i replaced it cuz i got a lightened flywheel (the stock flywheel is a 29 lbs dual mass design) the new flywheel is 12 lbs in a conventional design. since the new flywheel is of a different design, the old clutch does not mate up to it, hence the need for a new clutch also
