My fiancee is moving to Chicago from Madison, WI and is going to need some help navigating the area until she gets acclimated. Does anyone know of anything better than the Garmin nuvi 260w in the ~$100 range?

I have one of the Navigon GPSs for my car. I love it. I think it's one of the older 2100models, but I got it for right around $100. What I love about it is that, as you're approaching any freeway/tollway exit, it shows you which lane to get into. I've added lifetime traffic support also. You can usually find them for around $30 online. The only bitch I have with Navigon is that the map updates are $50.

What kind of cell phone does she have? She could look at getting Bing for Mobile. Comes with an ok GPS.

She'll be rocking my old LG Voyager once her current contract expires in a couple weeks. I'd rather not pay the $10 per month for VZ Navigator and buy a car mount, plus the interface was clunky last time I used it. The only real upside to it is that it's always updated and has "free" traffic info.

refurb'd Nuvi 255w's were/are on amazon for $100, I grabbed one a few weeks ago. Works great and looks brand spanking new.

I'm actually much more fond of Google Navigation on my Hero - works better and is easier to use. However, if I ever go out of data coverage...then the Nuvi will be it.
