Ok, not quite flooded, but the entire carpet (front and bacK) of our 2 month old, 2009 Civic is completely wet.

We don't have a garage, so it's parked outdoors year long. Since we bought it in the winter, we didn't really notice it until the trunk/fuel cap latch under the driver's seat stopped working because it was frozen. This happened after a lot of heavy snow, unseasonally mild days, and refreezing. At first, we thought it was from snow tramped in by the driver, which melted and froze. Fastforward to this past week with lots of rain and over a week of mild weather.

On Friday, we removed the rubber mats to discover that the front carpets were wet. It rained all day yesterday, and this morning, the water has reached the back.

So, obviously there is a leak. My question is if anyone's had experience with something like this, and if so, what did you do?

How fixable is it? We don't want to take it back, have them say it's fixed, then have to do it again next winter/rain storm.

We'll be taking it back to the dealer on Monday, but it's a family car, and the other people driving it have lost confidence in it. One has suggested trading it in to get a brand new car, writing off a couple grand if necessary (I went WTF too). It's two months old, has around 550km on it, and in pristine shape.

Thanks.

i know there was a problem with water leaking into the car from the right front windshield. But I am not sure if it teh 09's are affected. Get the dealer to look on it. The civic is a very reliable car. Keep it.

I wouldn't want it back either. I would think it would lead to interior rusr, and electrical issues if it got it into/behind the dash.

Let's not forget molding. I have virtually no allergies, but I still wouldn't want to be couped up in that.

The Civic engine is reliable alright. Now sure about the 'little' things.

Nope, no sun roof. Only openings are the windows and doors. Thank god for the Civic's gentle windshield slope; whichever dumbass thought this up, I don't know. Car looks nice, but I can't see shit on the front left thanks to the support bar taking up so much space.

We bought a cheap water-vacuum and it gets filled up pretty quickly with plenty to go yet.

Sorry, no pics: camera's busted and it'll be going to the dealer tomorrow anyways. Best pictorial I can give is that it's a wet grey carpet, and when you push on it, water comes out.

I bought one of these 2 months ago as well. I love the car and given my history with Honda all of their parts are reliable. Never really had a problem with one until 80k-100k miles and that was after the passenger side door was broken into three times.

I'd vote to keep it. Civics are very reliable. Sounds more like you just got unlucky with your specific car. Mine's undergone significant snow fall and rain since I bought it and I haven't had any leaks. Hope the dealership can fix it.
