So, I bring it to the station suspecting that it may in fact fail. There is a bit of damage to the front bumper. Sure enough it failed. Now I actually need to get it fixed. I have been driving with it like that for a year since after the accident happened, I brought it to a mechanic and they said that it is fine to drive with, and that it would pass inspection, and that in order to fix it, it would cost like $2000 thanks to some collateral frame damage or some crap like that.

Hell, $2000 is more than it's worth... maybe I should get a new car.
 
1. Find nearest junkyard
2. Buy similar (undamaged) bumper
3. Remove old (damaged) bumper & bolt on undamaged bumper
4. Pass inspection 🙂

Just what i was going to say
 
New Jersey. The whole bumper is pushed back maybe... an inch. Makes it bump out on the sides by the wheels. I dont think replacing just the bumper is going to make it not be weird like that.
 
It's where they check your car to make sure the essential things are working...you get the little inspection sticker in your lower left winshield--but you knew all that, right?

Sucks to be you. A good friend of my moms is our mechanic, and he lets me slide on inspection so good you wouldnt even know it
 
how the HELL do you not know what a car inspection is?

Are you in some sort of Bio Dome? In a cave? Under a rock? Where do you live, Cluelessville?

Drats, that reminds me I'm going to have to inspect my car soon. Oil sludge is comming out the exhust... not a good sign.

^^^^^ This is what car inspections are supposed to prevent. People driving around in pieces of sh|t with parts falling off and smoke from the tailpipe, no working headlights, bad brakes, etc.

^^^^^ Unfortunately, there are far too many of THESE people that "know" people and get passed for inspection.
 
My car failed visual inspection because the check engine light didn't work. The bulb burned out and I had to remove my gauge cluster to replace it. After I put everything back together the Speedometere and Tachometer did not work, something must have shorted out, so I had to drive all over to different junk yards to find a Speedo Cluster that was for my model car and was in working condition. Cost me an extra hundred bucks and took me 2 days to track one down.

No, we just don't live in a communist state is all. The only inspections we have out here are for smog (every 2 years when you buy new license tags), and those are only in the major metro areas. I've never heard of a car being taken off the road because of a scratched bumper or faulty CEL. Ridiculous.

No, we just doesn't live in a communist state is all. The only inspections we have out here are for smog (every 2 years when you buy new license tags), and those are only in the major metro areas. same in los angeles,other then smog check we have no inspections at all. Suck to be living in state that do car inspections
