Okay. I brought a car about 3 weeks back (it is a pre-owned one).

Thi car makes a rattling noise everytime i start this car in the morning (probably because of the fat that the engine is cold). One i drive the car around for a few minutes, the noise goes away. Also, this noise is loud when i press the clutch (the car is a stick shift).

Any clue as to what may be causing this problem??? Is it something that i need to worry about??? Anyone else faced any problem like this??

Its a Honda Civic 2001. It has about 35k miles on it. Beyond that...i cannot give you much of any information as I do not know about it myself.

What info are you looking for in specific??

I am just trying to find out if anyone has a rough idea of what could be the cause of this?

Sounds like "Piston slap"
Basicly the pistons are rattleing around in the cylinder before the oil has a chance to get there.
If you have any warranty left you should get it looked at.

This is common with cavaliers.

Wrist pins.
My parents minivan did that when they bought it (pre-owned), they expand after heating up, thus riddign you of your rattling. Requires the engine to be torn apart. If you just bought it the dealer should rebuild it for you, or else make them!

Drive belt? LoL...you mean like the muffler bearing?

Yep.

Really not a huge deal, you might try changing the oil to a slightly heavier than it has now, that generally cures a lot of it.

We have a 1999 Expedition and a 1999 Silverado, they both do it to some degree, its worse depending on how cold it is outside. They both have well over 140,000 miles, and they seem to have no ill effects from the noise when starting.

If it were my car, I'd take it to the Cowboy Muffler Shop (operated by Mexican Americans... helps if you know Spanish). Had a similar situation my old car, they checked it out and re-welded some exhaust and muffler mounts.

No more noise... $20 (assuming you're fluent in Spanish).
