whenever i depress the accelerator, i hear a faint chirping noise from the front right side of the car (it's an FF sedan).
it's barely noticeable, and disappears as soon as i let the accel go and coast.

it's a repetitive chirping pattern, seemingly coming from something that rotates.

sorry, i haven't checked under the hood cuz it's freezing out. maybe some of you would know off the top of your head.

TIA :D

OMG, THIS COULDN'T BE COMING FROM A NISSAN... COULD IT?

:D

btw it's probably your brake pads telling you to change them ... does it go away when you hit the brakes even a little bit?

but i'm just a car nef so don't listen to me

Only happens when he accelerates? It's not his brake pads, a very worn CV joint maybe, but not the brake pads.

If it is a loose fan belt, take a bar of soap with the engine running hold soap to the sides
of the belt. Quick fix till you have time to tighten or change.

I'm pretty sure we have a winner. Something like 99% sure. The belts are probably getting old about now anyway since 60,000 miles is pretty much the standard belt replacement interval. I'd say just to go to a mechanic and have the belts changed. I'm almost completely certain that it's NOT the CV joints, since worn CV joints make noise during cornering (ie. when they are flexed) and CV joints are not flexed under acceleration, at least not appreciably.

EDIT: Also, CV noise would be constant whether coasting or not so long as the wheels are turned.

lol, i never really noticed it until i finally turned off my cd player that's on all the time. it drowns out all ambient noises.

so it's been determined.
job well done guys... keep up the good work ;)
thanks!

Just something to remember, even though the belts probably do need to be replaced, the squeel can also be caused by something that the belts drive. It's rather unlikely, and you should change the belts first anyway. However don't stop paying attention just because the belts got changed, I had an alternator that was making what I thought was belt noise right before it died (albeit at about 198,000 miles). Again, the chances of it being something other than the belts are extremely slim, but you I generally pay the most attention to a car for about the week after it comes back from the mechanic's just in case something got missed.
