This is true - because when it went online/for sale the rental companies were bound to find out that their cars were involved in some extra curricular activities...

uhh what if you are going down a one way alley and you have two squad cars waiting for you at the other end. you need to kick it in reverse and get the hell out of there.

or what if you're trying to pull off the paul walker reverse drive from 2fast 2 furious?
 
I guess cops need to go fast in reverse? lol. Now I sorta feel like those movies where they spin the car around at decent speed aren't actually to far from the truth.
