Car detailing goodness...

Have fun. I have got about 30 hours into correcting my car's paint so far. I just applied the last coat of Z2Pro this evening. After that it's time for the detail work.

When your finished, can we have some before & after pics?

That is my plan.

Here is a pic of before: http://www.infinitemile.com/ga...ain.php?g2_itemId=6766

It's 10,000 times better now. I still know of at least a dozen different light scratches, but I am not going to worry about them now. I will re-detail it in June and hit all the spots I missed. It is amazing how well even a dual action buffer works. I bought an Ultimate Detailing Machine (same concept as the porter cable, less reliable and more power, though) and it can take even major scraches out to the point where I can at least fill them in.

dunno if the wave pad is necessary. the Porter Cable is a random orbital. So heat buildup isnt really an issue. And I always clay via hand. That way I get to rotate the clay frequently so that any dirt picked up by it doesnt end up scratching the paint. But good luck. Let us know how you like those products

If I were to do that with my UDM my arm would get ripped off 😛

The deal ended up cheaper than the standard pad set. The wave pad also helps keep the pad from getting loaded longer.

I have used clay by hand in the past, I have heard once you use a RO to do it you will never go back.

Let us know if that's true or not

I've got about 30 hours in the paint job on my truck and I'm itching for the warmer non-rainy weather to get here to finish up with my 7424. I did the tailgate with the Poorboy's SSR2.5 and have been very satisfied with the results. I'll probably also hit it with the SSR1 for the finer scratches.

Partially polished tailgate pic.
Obviously it's the lower left area in the picture. The rest still has the haze from wetsanding.
