Now we just need to band together our collective buying power and buy a few cars from him and tender nothing but pennies for the purchase.

All the same in their accounting figures no?

D'oh.
(p.s. Her car is a 9-3, the all-new 2003 9-3.)

The trans was still a European based one. Same design was used in Volvo as well and also as well regarded by Volvo fans. ;)
GM used the same trans in the Saturn ION, it was so bad they stopped using it after 2 model years.

Not only did I work on a lot of saabs but I even owned one. The auto trans was always a problem with them. Mine was a manual, only way to buy a saab IMO.

How did they fix a Gearbox issue for only $300 the first time?

Transmission Fluid change + profit?

Some transmissions have the shift solenoids located where they can be changed without removing the tranny from the car, possible they tried that or just changed the fluid and cleared the code.

And the car dealer, after experiencing a lot of backlash, paid her the $400 in bills.

"Irena Mujakovic has received her refund, in dollar bills. Dealer Ed Di Miranda said he wanted to let sleeping dogs lie and went to the bank and converted the coins into dollars."

"The story went viral on social media and Di Miranda said it generated hundreds of prank calls and hate emails to the dealership."

'The dealerships Facebook page has also taken a toll."

"Di Miranda said now he has to recover from the negative backlash, he hopes it doesn't force him to close his dealership."

Florida rox...fuck these buy here pay here people that want a $500 car to be epic and perfect.

They should move to where you guys live so you can help them with the repairs.

We don't know if it was a "buy-here pay-here" place and I'm sure the car cost a lot more than $500, that being said shady used car lots are not exclusive to FL at all so why people are harping on it I don't get. What she probably should have done is bring the car (seeing as it's 11yrs old) to a mechanic and pay for an inspection, usually these type of dealers will throw out a line like,"our mechanic goes through each car and check's it out before it's put out for sale" which is something a young exchange student would probably fall for.

He probably should have thought of that before being an asshole with the refund. Next time, maybe he won't try to pull such shenanigans.

This is a perfect example of why most buisness fail within 3-5 years. This guy was only open for 1 year and thought he can pull this stunt. I hope he ends up losing the buisness.

Serves him right .... freaking douchebag.

And didn't Saab go out of business completely awhile back? They were nice cars but never the most reliable under the best conditions. (former 900 Turbo owner)

She should've made him count all the coins to make sure the dealer is not cheating her.

If it was off by even a penny, I wonder what happens when she reports it back to the DMV. Huge fine and/or settlement? Maybe even a loss of business license?

There's more to this story.

Short of a lawsuit, the DMV can't force any dealership to take a return on a vehicle just because it broke down. They can certainly ask, but they can't force the guy to do it. Sounds like he was annoyed with all of the whining she was doing and that just motivated him to give her a refund:

"She wants a refund? Bob, just call her and tell her to bring the car back. I'll give her a refund she will love."

Sounds like they were made for each other. Stupid woman buys a '03 Saab and expects it to not have some kind of issue(s) and then has the audacity to be angry when it does?

Dealer was stupid for making this a bigger issue and doing something stupid that generates negative publicity for the sake of getting a laugh. Guaranteed it was just a situation where a bunch of men with the bully mentality got together and decided to just be dicks for the sake of being dicks.

She should only be allowed to shop at these types of dealerships and theses types of dealerships should only be allowed to have these kinds of customers. Then roll cameras Big Brother style.

People pay pain-in-the-ass corporations and gov't agencies in pennies and they're heroes.
