Car Covers

Well my wife and I are slowly making the move from St. Louis to Ft. Lauderdale for work. In Ft. Lauderdale we will only have space in the garage for one car, so that means the other car will be sitting outside most of the time. Since I will be traveling a lot, and my car is older, it makes sense for my car to be the one sitting outside...but I do want to keep my car in as good a condition as I can. So I figure I will put a car cover on it when not in use.

So there seems to be a lot of options out there...any insight on what brands are best? I'm looking for something that will hold up to the elements pretty well, so I don't mind spending a few extra bucks.

Can you put up one of those tube frame tent garage things? That would be much better.
Using a car cover outside is a double edge sword. The covers that are soft for you car and do not damage paint are usually not good outside and the outside ones are not usually very easy on your paint. They will protect from UV and sun damage but in the wind will rub on the paint edges and wear the clear down, also they trap moisture which will make your car rust faster. None of them breathe that well even when advertised. When i had my T/A outside i decided to leave it open with reflectors in the windows after much research.

For indoor storage, the only covers I would touch are 100% flannel lined with no grommets or inside seams. These are what protect my fathers collection of show cars from dust and such. They get washed once per year.

To play devils advocate: it would be better until it collapsed from wind load or the tarp falls apart. That's what happens regularly around here.
