I bought my cd player years ago (Alpine) and have been extremly pleased with it, but I am trading off my truck and the person taking it says it has to stay, and the new one I got only has a tape deck in it (with they don't put cd players in all of them now is beyond me) any way I'm looking to purchase a new one. Does anyone have any experience with the new decks out? And is an Alpine still the way to go or has someone taken the top seat now. I want about the best deck I can get, with out DVD, GPS, or a huge LCD screen. But I am extremly anal about my sound so it has to bee perfect. My last one about five years ago was about 750.00 with no internal amps and I am looking for about the same. Any help would be great. Thanks.

PS if it matters I am hooking it to a 75 x 4 RMS rockford fosgate amp for mains and a 250 x 2 RMS rockford for subs.

Nakamichi, Becker, high end Alpine and Clarion.

Some high end Pioneers are really good too (but I dont know what you can get in the USA since I'm not a resident)
