Car CD/MP3 HU Owners

Well, my old POS Koss HU is starting to flake out even more than normal, so the woman has granted the purchase of a new one... I'm definitely leaning towards Clarion, but I have a question about all of these units in general. On my Koss, it remembers where it was at on a song for CD only, not for mp3. This is an annoyance when I'm listening to long songs (think Pink Floyd 😉) so I'm wondering if any of the newer units pick up where they left off on an mp3 as well.
TIA for any input.

Well, I took the plunge and ordered a Clarion DXZ555MP. The closest competitor was the Pioneer DEH-P470MP but the Clarion was slightly cheaper and slightly more powerful. I don't imagine it will be here until next week, so I may not get it installed until next weekend, but I'll likely come back and post my thoughts.

Well, it got here yesterday, a delivery was attempted in the morning by DHL but the woman was so anxious to get it installed that we drove out and picked it up after work. Unfortunately I had to wait until after dark to get to the business of installing it, but seeing as how I don't have an amp or anything it really wasn't too bad.
I'm so happy. This Clarion completely blows away my old unit--it makes my stock speakers sing. I love it. Went from 160W with my old unit to 212W on this one (18x4 RMS, guessing the old one was 15 or so). I don't know that I'll need an amp. I heartily recommend this unit.
Got it for $145 after shipping from etronics.
Now I've just got to figure out the best way to run the aux-in RCAs to a more accessible place...

Take a look at the mid- high end Alpines. U can also look at Eclipse if you want superior SQ.

I've considered both of those, but the Clarions I'm looking at seem to have a pretty high bang/buck ratio. I'm just running stock speakers, and it'll probably be a while before I upgrade them.

most newer models do it. not even gonna mention generic stuff...

in order i had > sony pioneer > clarion pro audio > and now currently panasonic.

it remembers everything. has front/non fading rear, aux input, can also read folders on mp3 disks.

pioneer premiers seem to have the fastest read times for mp3 cds.

note: this is the new panasonic gear. not the old generic stuff. i chose it over a similar clarion hu.

My JVC remembers where it's been when the car is turned off. But not when a disk is removed (perfectly okay IMO).
Same here with my JVC. I think all newer units from major manufacturers do this. I really liked the interface on my JVC though. The SQ is good too, but when I'm driving down the road I'm more concerned with ease of use and being able to quickly navigate through the folders.

What Panasonic model you have??
Personally I love the quality/price ratio of Panasonic.

I got the Panasonic 1300 mp3/wma for $125.
It has 2 preouts and the preout voltage is 2.5
You can't find anything like that for that price range.
