Car Buying Questions

Looking for a car, got a few questions.

What kind of taxes do you avoid by purchasing out of state if any, and how much?
I know summer is usually the best time to buy a car, but does anyone know which particular month?
Is it true that it is best to buy on a Saturday at the end of a month?
If looking at used cars, can you really trust the certification checks that some dealerships do?

Thanks in advance

- none, your state will get their due one way or another

- all depends on what the dealer has left and what he wants to get rid off and when the new models are due out

Is it true that it is best to buy on a Saturday at the end of a month?
- end of the month is best yes, day of week doesn't matter

If looking at used cars, can you really trust the certification checks that some dealerships do?
- yes, as long as the certified warranty is from the manufacturer, not a 3rd party company

I thought it was Friday, for some reason...

If you buy out of state and then register it in your home state then your home state will collect taxes at that point.

I think the best time to buy a car is mostly hogwash, not including some times like year end, or when a new model/generation is in, but thursday vs. saturday I wouldn't count on much.

Keep in mind that when you buy a car, the registration goes one year until the end of the month.

So if you bought a car on the 28, you only get 3 days until the end of the month, so you kinda SOL there

True, but if the timing is right, you might be able to save a few thousand.
