Car Broken Into

I was leaving for work this morning and when I got to my car, there was a Sheriff's Deputy's business card in the track where my window used to be.

Some thieves busted 3 of my 4 windows out of my car and stole a few things. After using a neighbor's phone (my cell was dead and charger stolen) I began to make a list of stolen items.

Work Laptop Bag with:
-Laptop
-Ipod
-Chargers, etc.
-Portfolio with all of my notes
etc.

1 Credit card
1 Checkbook
Vehicle Registration

My question is, what can they do with the registration? I can't find the title at the moment, but my parents probably have it (I paid it off while living with them a few years back).

oh yeah, I know I shouldn't have left my laptop bag in the car. That's the first time in 2 years I've done it. My hands were full and I didn't come back out and get it.

Other Notes:

-I live in a townhouse complex and 3 other cars were also hit.

-My CC was used 3 times at 5am at a gas station in a neighborhood around 5miles away.

-3 windows on an Acura cost $1000

-Sheriff still hasn't called back

Here's to hoping that the gas station had some sort of surveillance running, if they did (and most do) should make it fairly easy to track down the criminals. Not saying you will get your stuff back but here is to hoping.

Yeah...I was watching "Intervention" on A&E and one of the crack heads on the show said if he can see a laptop/laptop bag in a vehicle, he will do whatever it takes to break into that vehicle to get the laptop. Then he'll sell it or trade it for $100-$200 for crack/ICE/etc.

:Q

That was my first thought.

It was all in the laptop bag :(

Except for registration

I understand that and I am sorry you got hit but you just don't leave valuables in cars anymore. I leave nothing of value in my cars when parked outside. I always bring my iPod inside even though no one is going to see it in the center console. You can't trust anyone anymore if you leave yourself exposed by parking outside, especially if you live in an apartment complex, condo community, or park in the city a lot.

With the credit card and registration, they can get all of your personal information. Identify theft is highly probable. Notify all of the credit bureaus.

Ya, having it can give them a proof of address depending on how slack the place is they are going to get credit.
