So my brother was driving it this morning and i guess the front axle broke, went through the side of the car, wheels went up inside the wells, and its pretty much totaled. Im a college student so i have about $0 in my bank account...but i can get some money of course.

I was thinking about a new car, but i really only need one to last me till i graduate, so now im leaning towards getting a used one.

Does anyone have suggestions for a good, reliable used car that will sell for anywhere from $7000-10,000?

My old car was a 1996 Chrylser Sebring LXi, with 115k, that had nothing else aparently wrong with it, so i dont know what insurance will give me for it, bluebook is around 6000 but i know i wont get that.

Thanks in advance!

if you're really lean on cash, maybe a nissan senta with 100K+ miles. they oughta last a lot better than the chrysler but won't cost as much as a civic/corolla.

You could get a new kia/hyundai for that much. Think about it, brand new car, warranty, and latest safety standards a used car likely will not have. You will have to comprimise a bit on some features.....

IF you want DIRT cheap get an older Chrysler K, P, AA or G Body car with a 2.5 ltr engine. They are inexpesive to maintain and cheap to repair when something breaks.
