i had a bad battery. i returned it to wal-mart, they gave me a new one

i put it in my car trunk. i left it there for a couple weeks (that was stupid)

i opened the trunk and it was tipped over on its side and some amount of the electrolyte leaked out.

so now i have a brand new battery that is missing some unknown % of the electrolyte

do i trash it? or can it be fixed? where do you buy electrolyte to top it off? are there battery shops that fix car batteries? i wouldn't spend much $ on this, it is a $50 battery

Buy battery acid from Wal-mart. You can get it off the shelf at most stores.

LOL

True, in fact, most motorcycle batteries have it seperate.

I would be more worried about what the acid did to the inside of your trunk. Immediately put baking soda in the area to neutralize it, then clean it out with rubber gloves. If it got down in the cracks of your trunk, it will probably cause major corrosion problems if left untreated.

it soaked into the felt lining and wooden board underneath. i just ripped out the whole thing/felt/board and tossed it, too much to try to clean up

yeah, i have purchased motorcycle batteries both by mail and locally where i had to fill it
since the battery was new/never used/not discharged, adding the same mixture they give you for the new batteries should work. i'll look around for some. thanks
