Car Audio

Ok, I'm going to be getting a new headunit for my car soon and I need some advice/suggestions.

I'm dont really know much about car audio, and I'm not sure what brands are considered good... I'm looking at these 2 units:
1
2

Other than MP3 playback, are there any diferences between these 2 headunits? Is sony an ok brand in car audio, and does anyone have suggestions for other headunits in this price range?
I'm keeping my stock speakers for now, I might upgrade later... I just want a CD player in my car for now (98 Civic)
Also, apparently it is very easy to install, so I will be doing it myself instead of paying some monkey at BB or whatever to do it for me 🙂
Is there anything I should know about before starting the install?

Thanks in advance.

1.) Don't buy from Crutchfield, they are way too expensive
2.) Sony head units are poor at best. Look at some Pioneers at the same price, they are excellent. I have a JVC KD 909 and it is fantastic, you can find the 707 version for a little over $200 I would think.

After having a mp3 stereo stolen from my car, I'll give this advice:

get a cheap stereo that only have a cd player. but has aux in/outputs.

instead of getting a new mp3 player, i'm getting a cheap cd player and hooking an ipod up to it. no worries about theft. i might just have to carry the ipod around (which is ok for me) or keep it in some hidden compartment in the car.

Alpine, Eclipse, and Blaupunkt all make very quaility head units.

Look in the back of car and driver for super cheap head units.

Are there any other good websites to buy from that would be cheaper, or would I do better just going to a store and getting something there?
