Car audio wiring Qs

Ok, question one: I have a rockford fosgate 250a2, it puts out 125w x 2 at 2 ohms, how big of a fuse should be on the power wire? There is no fuse on the amp itself (do they not do that anymore?), and nothing on the amp saying what fuse I should use.

Q2: I have a RF punch hx2, which is dual voice coil, so how should I wire this up? bridge it, wire the coils in parallel, and just not push it super hard? Or can an RF amp generally handle 1 ohm well?

A1: There really should be a fuse on the amp. If there is, use the same rating for the inline one. At 125wx2, that's about 21 amps. So a 25 or 30 amp fuse should work.

Minendo: it's a 250a2. Ok, so 2 ohms, bridged, should be ok then?

And for the fuse - would it be inside then? Because it doesn't seem to be outside (can't look right now, not at home)

Ran mine that way for four years with no problems.

I remember now that mine does not have a fuse on the side of it as I though. My setup is a 4 guage power wire from the battery with inline fuse to a distribution block. 2 power wires from the distribution block to RF 250a2 and RF 100a2. I have an inline fuse (30amp) on the power wire from the distribution block to the 250a2.

probably a 40 amp inline fuse.

RF amps are the best out there in my opinion.

it will easily handle running at 1 ohm. ive seen 800a2's running at 1/3 ohm for a few years now. just make sure the sub can handle the power.

Sweet 🙂

The sub takes 500RMS / 1000 peak, so I would imagine it should be able to handle whatever this amp can throw at it.

Plus, I'm not the type of person who rolls around with bass up as loud as possible just to be cool or whatever, I like it to be proportional to the rest of the music.

edit: So I'm guessing this thing has an internal circuit breaker or something? I find it hard to believe that it would have no protection whatsoever.

RF used to be good. but now all of their amps are overrated, ad not so good. they are good BB stuff, but you go find the correct amps online, although they cost more, they are built better, better output, rated at about 12.9 volts, and can do sum sweet stuff. but you got what u got, so go over to www.knukonceptz.com and buy a 40amp inline fuse w/ water proof holder, should cost bot 6 dolla plus shipping.

RF has additional lines above the crap you see at Best Buy.

If you are a total audio nut, then you're probably not using RF anyways. And if you're not a total audio nut, then RF is MORE than good enough for you.

And I tend to not trust peoples' opinions when they drop names that I've never heard of and are spelled like a 8th grade retard made them up.

....not to mention, knukonceptz.com has a broken menu that doesn't work (i.e. designed by people that don't know what they're doing), and looks like a tiny place, which strengthens my suspicion that this recommendation is less than sincere.

lalala.....
