Inspired by another thread.

When I was into car audio in the late 90's to early 2000's, I had spent a great deal of money on this hobby. Going completely off memory, I will try to list my setup:

-12" Phoenix Goild DVC (dual voice coil) x 4
-Phoenix Gold ZX 600 Ti ( for subs)
-Phoenix Gold XS 4400 for high/mid
-Kaption high/mid speakers
-Audio Control Over Drive Line Driver
-Phoenix Gold Bass Cube
-Phoenix Gold 1.2 farad capacitor
-Phoenix Gold wiring
-Premier P720 head unit

Now all I have is a Kenwood DNX 8120 head unit.

Whatever crap Chevrolet put in there 7 years ago, I did call and get the XM activated, so I got that going for me.

It does say Bose all over it, so that means its perfect for talk radio. :sneaky:

I have the Bose system in the wife's Grand Prix GTP. Sounds great for stock.

Stock Bose. Sounds good enough that I am not interested in aftermarket.

I just recently officially bought my own car with my own money so I decided to get my "own" system in the car.

Pioneer P4300 Head unit
JL Audio TR600-Cxi speakers
2, 12in Kicker CVR Subs
Pioneer D9500 4 channel amp 800w
Alpine MRX-M50 Mono amp 500w

Night and day difference from my stock Civic LX system. Although, if I were to go back a few months, Id tell myself not to get it and save some money LoL.

I had a Polk Momo setup in my last car, was tuned by a bad ass car dude. At the Drive In it rivaled any home theater setup I've heard, well outside of some retardly expensive $20,000+ setup.

-Boxology Subwoofer Box, bought used on corvette forums

-JL 500/1 Slash Series Amp, used off craigslist
-Tsunami 2.0 Farad Capacitor, used off craigslist (blue LED's are covered w/ black electrical tape)
-JL 2AWG Wiring, bought used (was in great shape) from the same person i bought the amp from
-JL 10W3V3-4 Subwoofer, bought new

some pics:

About 5+ years ago I had aftermarket infinity tweeters and mids (100w/pair) that literally pierced your ears when Amy Lee hit her high notes. It was awesome.

I also had two 12" Kicker L7s receiving their max power from a 1500w kicker amp.

I miss it, but my fiancee does not :D

In my old Firebird...

Pioneer DEH-P6600
Infinity Kappa 6.5" 2-ways up front
Stock rear
Viper D1200.1 amp
(2) 12" Kicker L5s
Subthump T-top box
KnuKonceptz 4 gauge amp install kit

Then, after a couple years I upgraded the HU to a DEH-P6000UB, then the car got totalled. Still have all of the equipment, not worth it to sell so I'm holding on to it until I get another F-body...

last time I sprung for more than basic, it was 1980 or so. I had a Sony separate head unit with 10! preselects. A big Sony amp in the trunk. A Bose modular speaker system with a powered 6x9 sub.
One day coming across the 520 bridge out of Seattle in rush hour, I was able to find an AC/DC song on every one of those 10 FM stations. GAH!

Stock Nissan radio in my 1995 Nissan Altima. Both front speakers are blown out. The display is cracked, tape deck doesn't work, FM only, cannot change any of the 6 presets. Rear left speaker works. Rear Right works if I push on the faceplate of the stereo in the right place, or hit a bump just right.

The last aftermarket stereo I had was the crappy removable-face cassette unit in the 1984 Accord I bought in 1997 with 200,000 miles. Currently I have one car with a BMW Logic 7 stereo (I believe it's made by Harman/Kardon), and another car with an OEM Harmon/Kardon stereo. The Logic 7 is much better, though the car it's in is also 4 years newer.

My girl had two 12s in her Mustang, dunno the wattage. Maybe 800W or something. I never had anything like that in my car. Stock all the way. Although, I would like a cool system, for sure.
