So I have a Pioneer DEH-P7500MP powering stock speakers. However, the volume fluctuates when I drive. I don't know if it fluctuates when the car is not moving. What can be some possible causes of this? Is the onboard amp of the head unit bad?

I have no idea so please help out...

EDIT: Could it be weak battery? Alternator?

i know that what i ment, if you have it set at a volume and teh car is idle its has a noise level X above ambiant, when you start driveing the ambiant level changes so teh volume will compinsate so it is still X above the new ambiant noise level

Yeah, I understand what you are saying but the thing is that it changes while driving, not between idle and motion, but at constant motion the volume will change. Besides I don't know if my hea dunit has such a function built into it.

No correlation with braking and accelerating. It just randomly does it.

first off, i used to have one of those particular head units, and it does in fact have the feature that raises the volume level as the level of noise present in the car increases... it's called "automatic sound levelizer" or in the audio setup menus "ASL" i would imagine that since it's randomly fluctuating, there's something wrong with the microphone. go into the audio setup menus and turn off ASL, and your problem should go away.

My Honda Fit has the feature. It does great getting louder with increased speed, not so good getting quieter when slowing down. One is supposed to be able to disable it; one can't. :(

Sorry i know this post is old,Jacob0401 I have the same head unit. My ASL is off,i know about this, but I am having the same problem. As with the other guys, fluctuation is random,BUT it seems that sometimes/intermittently it does this when i brake soon after my trip begins, then it happens while driving one speed. Even the bass comes and goes. My aerial not connected so not sure if same problem will be with radio as well.
Anybody help.please!?? Maybe the alternator regulator?
