I have a 1992 honda accord that i just bought so everything in it is stock. I want to get a CD player for sure and will want to add an amp sub and new speakers later on. i have no idea where to start as i know nothing about this. i like all kinds of music but want soemthing that can handle high bass songs if needed, price isnt that much of an issue but i want to save all i can.

I looked at some stereos in best buy and like the sony CDX m630

Don't get a Sony is the first thing. We here would recommend Pioneer, Kenwood, JVC and Alpine. BTW, Aiwa is COMPLETE crap so stay far far away from that as well.

i will look into it, you guys have any links where i can read about this or maybe a diff forum dedicated to this stuff

i was considering that but it gets too cold up here for anyone to stand around trying to break in, but as of right now i just want to read all i can

My vote would be for the JVC sh909 for around $230 on ebay, or eclipse which goes for about $300 for a decent one.

That is what you think. I've had my stereo stolen twice in the dead of winter.

Well, I dont think I would consaider myself a Pioneer, Kenwood JVC kinda guy. And I dont like the hype associated with Alpine.

Eclipse HU.
Whats your budget, and how much space for bass?

Room for 6.5"s all the way around, but watch the depth in the doors (check crutchfield.com for what will fit, but don't buy from them 😉).

You've got plenty room for a sub setup in the trunk, depending on how much bass you want. Running wires for the amp/sub is pretty simple, I just did it in my 92 accord. Towards the middle on the passenger side there is a rubber gromet in the firewall that's perfect for drilling a hole in and running your power cable for your amp (I ran 8 gauge all around, even in my sub box 😉).

I found a hole with a rubber grommet in the bottom of my floor. Driver side, half way between the seat and the pedals. Didnt even have to drill, the 0 gauge fit right through. 🙂
Ran from battery, down through the tirewell across the bottom then up the hole. Back to the trunk and bada bing bada BOOM. Unfortunately when I did my wiring there was snow falling so I was in a hurry. I need to go back and touch it up some. Probably do that next week.

yeah like i said i dont know much so any links would be great, of course so far i am learning!

and rgwalt where do you live because i dont think it gets as cold as it does in Fairbanks, but at anyrate i still need to pick the system before deciding on alarm. right now i am mainly looking for the cd deck

Get a rockford fosgate deck... from what I hear they are the best, thats what I am having installed in my car today, and an 8" kicker solobaric sub, with a rockford fosgate 551x amp to run them... might get a monoblock amp later if I think I need it. I am also getting rockford fosgate 5.25" and 6.5" speakers.

Alpine is awesome. Don't believe the hype about the hype. Alpine has this immaculate pure sound. I would go with Boston speakers and Alpine electronics. I also throw a vote at Orion, but I believe they were bought out by Diamond, so if you want Orion, just buy Diamond stuff. Apparently, Diamond bought all of the engineers from Orion and shut down all of their manufacturing plants.
