Car Audio Issues

I have numerous problems that im all stumped about.

My setup is a Sony Xplod amp that does 200 rms @ 4ohms on 2 channels or 500 rms @ 4ohms bridged. Subs are 2 Infinity 1040's. I have them hooked up to each channel so im not bridging them. Im running 8 gauge Streetwire, and have a sorta crappy looking sealed sub box.

1st problem subs get power fine but i was having a connection problem with the RCA plugs. The plug actually got the wire pulled out of it so its shot and i need new wire. Problem is that with the 1 plugged in i still have the subs working as if the other plug didnt even matter and i dont understand why.

2nd problem is with the one wire not working how do i know both subs are working. Yes they both have power. I unplugged the one speaker wire from the amp to teh sub box and the sub still had power. How is that possible? Its not like have the wires inside the box interconnected or anything weird.

3rd problem is i get massive rattling. My old system i had 2 100rms subs bridged and got no rattling so i realize im twice the load rms wise but even if turn the subs down a lot as soon as i get any noticeable base i hear massive rattling.

RCA plugs? From the head unit to the amp?

2: Remove the subs and power them individually. In free air, you won't hear anything (hopefully), but you'll be able to detect their motion by touching the cones.

1. Wire probably never worked in the first place.
2. Not possible.
3. Spray foam!

Trust me i agree on #2 100% but i saw it with my own eyes. And is there anything cheaper than Dynamat?

carpet foam and silicon adhesive caulking

take off the panels, cut the carpet foam to fit inside the panel
spurt on some silicon, put foam on panel, spurt more silicon on, put panel back

if the screws are slipped, get some larger diameter screws or use teflon tape

Speaker dont work when they arent' hooked up.. i'm sure the vibrating cone came from the air moved by the other sub... Good chance you did something you didnt think you did. carpet pad and caulk is pretty easy to do... just stuff it everywhere you can.

"carpet underpad and silicone caulking"

there's your answer to #2

air pressure fluctuation by sub #1 causes sub #2 to move - creating the illusion that it has power.
