Car Audio Installation. Need Help with some questions.

Ok, my brother in law install the sound system for my car with 2 amps hooked up to it. One is hooked up to the Subwoofer and the other one is hooked up to the Speakers & Tweeters of the car. One day the whole right side decided to quit. Now all I hear is from the left side speakers of the car (including the Sub) (any idea how to fix this?). This gets annoying so one day I decided to rewire everything and hopefully get the whole right side working again. But the way he hook up the system is pissing me off. He have all of the speakers direct connected to the Amps instead of the CD player unit.

My plan is: Connect all of the speakers inside the car directly to the head unit. Forget about the Amplifer & Subs right now, I already took them out and do not plan to use them anymore (Or until i can find a better box for my Subs).

The question is: I have no clue on where to start. Since all of the speakers wires goes directly to the trunk where the amps was located, i can't find a way to take them out of the trunk & connect them to the head unit.

Swicth the RCA's connected on the amp. Like put the left in the right spot and see if you get sound out of the right side and not the left. If so, replace the RCA's.

Doh a little late for that....I already took everything off (Subs & Amps) & my front interior (everything is exposed: head unit, all of the cables that connect to it)

That really sucks because the RCA's would probably be the easiest thing to check.

Also any chance the balance setting on your deck got set to left side only?

Well my real question is how do you get all of the speakers connection in my trunk back to the front so i can connect it to my head unit

You just have to run all the cables up to the deck and hook them up. Make sure you keep track of what cable powers what speaker. You are probably in for quite a project.

But here is another question Can't i just connect the head unit cables to the Car's original radio's cable (which has speakers cables in it). You know what i mean? Like strip the cables of the original radio from the car and connect it to the Head unit of my cd player.

I wanted to do that since it's a lot easier. But since my brother in law wire the whole damn system so different.....

Yeah you could try that and maybe the factory cables are even run to where the speakers are installed. Unless they were removed.

Yesss!!! I think I know how he hook up my system! I was able to successfully got the front speakers working by connecting it to the factory's connector. Even though he have all of the speaker cables already connected to the subs at the same time. So my theory is that he just stripped the Factory's audio cable so that he can hijack an extra cord to connect it to the sub in the trunk while leaving the whole cable connecting to the Factory's audio system intact.

So in theory, the Factory's cable plug will still work and i do not have to run all of the speakers connectors in the trunk back to the front in order to use my speakers system.

sounds like your brother in law did it right the first time but there was a problem with the wires.. since you're not gonna use your amps..might as well send them to me
