I have two speakers rated at 110 RMS@4omhs, I want them to run off the front RCA out, so how big of an amp do I need. A one channel 200 watter? or????

2 speakers = 2 channels... (Unless you are using subwoofers, you can use a single channel and run them in series...)

Edro I have a sub that Im running off the SUB preout and the sub is 400 watts self powered. So what do you recommend for 2 channels and about 110 rms each channel @ 4 ohms.

I would get something like this.

And, no, I'd probably not buy it from them. But their catalog is good for quick research and reference.

By the way, what subwoofer do you have that is 400 watts and self-powered? Is it a tube or a cube box?

If you only want to power your front 2 speakers, get a 200W, 2 channel amp. But I recommend powering all 4 of your speakers. If your car is half way normal, it has 4 speakers in it plus your powered subwoofer. Get a 4 channel amp to run your 4 speakers...(buy 2 more speakers, they are cheap)

What kind of car?

You could wire the speakers in paralell and run them of a single channel amp. When you wire them in paralell they effectively become 2 ohm though so make sure you got an amp that'll do like 110 at 2 ohms.

Edit: Never mind this is dumb. The only mono block amps out there are sub amps. This would sound like crap. Do you have a pair of rca's from the front deck you can run to the new amp? If so then a 2 channel amp rated at about 110/channel should work fine. If you don't have the rca's you can get a speaker level converter to splice into the existing pair of speakers wiring and it will convert them to rca's. I had my sub hooked up this way for a while. It doesn't sound as good, but it works. With normal speakers a sound quality difference might be more noticeable.

Not at all normal and its a truck. 1975 International Harvester Scout II

And I have to cut the holes for the speakers.

EDIT

Yes I already Mentioned I am using the rca preouts for the speaker amp.

No! Two speakers = Two channels. Each speaker = 110W RMS, so you need two channels that produce 110W RMS each at 4ohms...

No. You can run many number of speakers off a single channel.

No. Each speaker does not require 110W. It is merely the maximum power that the speaker can handle safely, and the criteria for that differs from mfr to mfr.

No. Channels do not produce so much power. Amps produce power. Also, the resistance depends on the speaker.

Got it, that was actually my second thought.

WTF?

If you're running them both off the same channel you can use 1 amp to power the speakers, either wired in parallel or in series. If they're wired in parallel the resistance will be 2 ohms, in series it will be 8.

Sounded like you agreed with what he said, which was wrong.

Get a PPI 2 channel amp, that is stable at 2 ohms. A good, best bang for your buck amp, would be the PCX-250. At 4 ohm, it would be 50 watts..2 ohm, 100 watts. You can power all 4 speakers with this amplifier, and it will sound good.
