Hey guys I know some of you are into car audio as much or more than computers so I am looking for some suggestions please.

I want to swap out the wife's stereo so she can use her IPOD in the care as well since we are dropping XM service.

I have the Pioneer AVIC-F90BT (GPS, CD, DVD, etc etc) and she likes that and the way the IPOD functionality works - simple.

I am looking for something with good IPOD controls and GPS that will fit her 2001 Windstar. It cannot accept double-din so it needs to have a fold out screen.

It does not have to be the latest and greatest super deluxe or sound model. She just needs easy to use/understand.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

kenwood has many HU that control ipods. i have a 2 or 3 year old one that does it, and i know the newer ones do it better than mine does. other brands i know nothing of.

If she can give up the stupid GPS, somebody (alpine, pioneer or sony, can't remember which) just came out with a headunit that stashes the iPod inside itself. You flip the face down, slide the ipod in like a dock and flip the face back up and it hides it.

Those slide out/flip up screen dealies are expensive and I bet prone to breakage.

Neat, I haven't seen those yet.

The only reason I am considering getting something with GPS in it is to have 1 less item in the van. We have a simple TOM TOM in there which works fine but 1 less elctronics item in the car would be better overall IMHO.

I 2nd that motion to ditch the GPS idea, especially if you don't have the space for a double din. I'm just not very impressed with the stereo/gps combo units. Besides, don't most cell phones have GPS now?

Not her simple - she doesn't need one like that for just making calls

Looks like the Windstar can accept a double din as I have found no less than 5 places that sell an aftermarket double din kit so I guess I can look at DD units now as well.

Edit -- what's with the thousands of no name china made units on Ebay now. Geesh every item up there is one of these things, of which you can't get any info on other than what is on the auction.
