Ok, I've installed quite a few of subs/amps/decks since I was 16. I installed a sony 1000w amp last night, 2x 10"8000 series mtx subs and a 4 guage amp kit. I have a panasonic deck(ill get model number shortly)

problem is, amp turns on fine when the radio is on and bumps, etc. if I switch the source ot aux or cd or stick a cd in the amp just powers off, loses power completely, but once I switch it back to the radio, it powers on. I cant figure this out for the life of me.

I've narrowed it down to the deck but could it have anything to do with the amp?

your using the antenna power lead off of your radio and not the amp turn on lead. Its the other blue wire.... good luck simple mistake.

I looked for other blue wires, there was I believe a blue and white striped wire but I think it was connected to something. I bought this yukon and the deck they had in it they had it professionally installed, needless to say its a VERY shi-tty job. Still has stock stuff behind the deck and its even connected to it so if I wanted to take the stock harness out, I would have to reqire all of it.

sigh, Ill give that a go and try another wire, let me try and find a manual for it.

just cut that other blue wire put a butt connector in there and splice in your amp turn on lead to it.... its probibly there turning on the factory amp.

well if you hook up all of the wires to that lead it will work and so will your amp... just splice in the new amp turn on wire with the other two its easy to do.
