Bone stock rims and tires too, off of my 2002 Z24 Cavalier. Guess they wanted to get away from it with something. Hope they like them... I guess they needed them more than me.

Last week, my friends' Honda Civic (a really sweet one at that, with an aftermarket engine) got stolen.

What I'm wondering at this point, is there a really nice security system that I can get that will call my phone if my car is getting broken into? I think I'm going to get that thing called "the Club", too...

thanks.

I think LoJack and it's competitors will do that.

edit: As far as alerting you BEFORE it gets stolen (i.e. just letting you know if someone's cracked open your door), I had a system like that on my Miata, it was from Viper. It would tell me which door had been opened; or whether the hood or trunk had been opened. It also had a proximity feature, whereby simply reaching in through a window into the interior space would trigger an alert. But the downside was having to carry a pager-type device around.

The system came from the previous owner, and I ended up having it deactivated as I hate car alarms. But it sounds like what you're after.

you can get a 2 way alarm that has a quarter mile radius. Some of them are high tech enough where if the right window is broken it will alert you to that, or if the trunk is opened it will alert you of it. One of my rich neighbors has some sort of super uber alarm that uses a satalite or something to warn him of forced entry. It was expensive as hell and I believe he pays monthly for the service. I don't know of one that will alert you on your cell, but I am sure there is one somewhere. If you don't need more then a 1/4 mile radius even Circuit City has 2 way alarms. If you get a good brand they work amazingly well.

The club is useless. They are realy easy to remove from the steering wheel.
If you still want to buy one, I will sell you mine.

I wouldn't call a Club useless, they might be really easy for people who know what they're doing. But a lot of your average thieves are pretty lame in their ability to pull of anything complex. A Club is fairly inexpensive and while it won't keep a smart criminal from stealing your car. There are so many dumb ones out there who couldn't get past it, it would be a good security measure.

I got this thing that locks to the brake. It's similar to The Club. I only use it when I am in a bad neighborhood.

I think I'm going to look at some two way viper systems. Those 1/3 mile radius deals that alert you when the car has been bumped into hard or forced entry. any suggestions there?

I hope someone steals my Trans AM. I leave it unlocked and parked on the street. Any takers?
