car alarms

what do you guys reccomend? i am looking to spend 150 for the unit, and install it myself

remote start isnt necessary, but would be nice if i can afford it.

2 way paging system would be sweet if it was affordable.

starter kill, door locks, remote, remote starter kill shock sensor, are what i need.

I know squat about alarms but I just had one installed in my car yesterday. It is a Falcon IV and cost me $179 installed complete. I have no idea what it costs by itself though and the cost included install, tax and the unit itself with two remotes.

It has code hopping protection
automatic re-arming
starter kill-engine disable
2 stage shock sensor
keyless entry

I probably paid too much but I mainly wanted it for the keyless entry and to protect the stereo. Once we sell my wife's old car it is going in the garage anyway.

some one on here has to have experience with them, maybe even when they tried to jack a car, what alarms were the best deterrent? (omg im just asking for random replies now) but seriously, any one have any good info?

MIKE

yeah, you won't get much for 150

500+ is where the real security begins

150 dollar alarms lead to 150 dollar protection

im not talking 150$ installed, i am talking 150$ just the stuff, and from everything ive read so far, its very very attainable,

yeah and 150 won't get you dick squat

you'll need: fuel cut off, ignition cut off, self powered siren, backup siren (maybe), prox sensor if you'd like, tilt sensor, + a decent brain taht won't give false alarms everytime a ricer drives by

well you don't "need" it, but that's where protection begins

nothing will stop a tow truck however

i think that is the best alarm out there actually. and DEI makes viper, clifford, valet, hornet, and just about every alarm out there.

MIKE

clifford > viper, even though they're made by the same company

it's like lexus vs toyota =P

but it is possible to get a decent, to good alarm for under 200$ no? i havent read up on prestige alarms, but they have one out there for 175 w/ responder. but i need to find some reviews of them.

MIKE

i will

lets see, car stereo install, fiberglass installs, hmm car alarm next, shouldnt be EXTREMELY hard, but challenging. although e-toolbox should be helpful a lil.

Car stereo installation is cake compared to doing an alarm. Just watch what you cut since are tapping into most of the electrical components of your vehicle including lights, starter, etc.
