I work on the 7th floor of an office building with a big set of floor to ceiling windows. All day a car alarm has been going off. I so want to just go outside with a baseball bat and smash the crap out of that car.

I would never buy a car alarm. I mean, when was the last time you ever heard a car alarm and though "gee, that car is being robbed, I should alert the police"...

I want to get a car alarm hooked upto a hydraulic setup. Someone breaks into the car, 10 seconds later, they're getting hammered! You try hotwiring a car while it's body slamming you.

Want to hear something funny? A few months ago I heard what sounded like a car alarm repeatedly being activated. It was that same sound over and Over and OVER again. Finally after an hour or so I got up out of bed and looked out the window. The sound was coming from my tree. Apparently a bird somehow learned that sound and was using it as its song.

Has anyone ever heard of such a thing?

That would be pretty sweet. A metal strip on the underside of the steering wheel set up to act like a stun gun would work nicely as well.

Mockingbird, perhaps?

Yes, probably a mockingbird,

LOL; I first read this in the Onion and was pretty sure at the time it was a great joke; however, recently in Southern Arizona, Mockingbirds have been heard droning out car alarm sounds.

Around here if a car alarm continued to go off it would violate local noise ordinances. That said, I hate them and they are useless. Unless it's a silent alarm that just signals to you're phone/pager.

Seinfeld had a half-serious joke about this. He basically asked the car alarm makers to make an alarm that simply goes "ahem" when it senses movement. "Twas pretty funny.

They seem completely useless to me. Nobody ever pays attention to them when they go off.
