Does anyone have one of these? I saw it in the best buy add in the paper, are they any good? Looks really cool CD, CD-R, CD-RW, MP3 encoded CD-R/CD-RW...

Not bad, but not great either.

Now if they bought out a car player that could read MP3's off of a DVD, then you'd be laughing.

650MB really doesn't cut it. 17GB of DVD definately does!

How much?

Hey ForeverSilky, I know what you mean. I won't even say what I was thinking when I read that :disgust:

I'm sure you can pay to have a DVD written from a hard disk if you go to the right place.

Obviously one with a built in 20GB harddrive would be nice but that's not gonna be good in a head unit with an amp & all that heat.

It is 299.99 at Best Buy...and you can fit 6 hours of music on a regular cd-r who the hell would need 17 gb of space..you will be listening to it for a year...

Well gee, thanks for getting back to us with the price... :|

Anyway, I found out it's $299.00. A little steep for an Aiwa made anything. Anybody got a "Hot Deal" price for this?

OK where can I buy one in the UK? Or is there someone who imports them since it's not on Aiwa's UK site?

I got my Aiwa cdc-mp3 about two weeks ago, i orginally ordered it when i saw it in the Crutchfield catalog about 2 1/2 months ago.. anyways, it works flawlessly, it will read the artist and title of an ID3 tag. You can group albums into subdir and it will display that also. The steering wheel remote that it comes with is kinda a novelty that wears of quickly with flaky operation, (plus after you turn a couple of sharp corners and send it flying into the back seat it's almost annyoing). The display on it is also pretty sweet looking.

just my $.02

Yeah, that new Aiwa MP3 car deck is in the Best Buy ad, but we haven't gotten it in stock at the store I work at yet (don't even have a display model). $299 is a fair price (even for Aiwa), considering that that Kenwood's competing product costs more than twice as much. You also have to remember the old days when you had to build a box with plenty of shock resistance to sit in your trunk. Add the cost of that with those pricey LCD displays that were a bitch to get working right with Winamp and that $300 doesn't seem too bad.

At college the connection is probably the fastest you can get, since we have a sun site on site. Is this called OC-5 or what?

Anyway, I frequently get 20MB/sec :D :D God bless the ZIP drive.

But I've only downloaded about 200 MP3's. The rest are just ripped off my CD's and all of my housemates CDs.
