Car Advise needed

I currently have a 1995 nissan altima. The car needs work(new radiator and has A/C problems). I am not going to put any money into repairs(Except 10 bucks to patch the radaitor and 10 bucks for a can of R134a). I've put too much money into this car so far(money that could have went to a upgraded car)

Here are my options:
1) Buy the cheapest thing that runs(say 600 - 1000 bucks) sell my current car and then save up till I have the cash to buy an upgrade from my Nissan

2)Get a loan for an upgrade. While I'm not thrilled about having a loan, I can afford a small payment no problem. + selling off the old car would pay off the loan sooner.

3) Wait till the car finally explores, and then be forced to walk to work. Mind you I work the night shift

Yeah um...buy a cheap new car like a sentra? I think those are like $13-$14k for a 1.8s with automatic and crap, if you can drive stick you'll save a few bucks over that.

I'm not sure what your financial situation is, but this is a good bet for a cheap and relatively reliable ride for the next few years...

There's no use in buying another junker for 1000 or so dollars because you have no way of know if you'll have less problems with it than your current car.

By upgrade I mean something in the $3000-$6000 range(that would get me something newer than what I have with less miles)

I know I can't afford a 13k car.

get a toyota yaris... great toyota car @ 11,000 bucks...

(there is the downside that it's a first-year production car, and lots of car models end up needing a few years to iron out design kinks...)
