car accident

So my dad got in a car accident, his car got pretty f-ed up (chevy colorado). It is 100% their fault. The company first offered him 200 bucks but then i told him to see the chiropractor. He went to see the chiropractor and paid 400 bucks (didn't have insurance at the time yet). The doctor said something like as he gets older he's gonna get hurt easier but it's fine.

After some negotiations, they're offering him 1200 bucks (including the medical expense) and he has to sign something that "release, acquit and forever discharge" them from blah blah blah. Is this clause common on these type of situations? What I'm concerned about is if my dad gets hurt again and this accident started it. If that makes any sense.

Don't sign anything.... $1200 bucks is barely enough for one dr. visit anymore....Get a lawyer and make sure that any related medical treatment from that point on, any loss of wages, pain and suffering (esp if it was negligence) is paid for.

How much did they give him for his truck? It was NOT your dad's fault, right?

I can't believe an insurance company would recommend a chiropractor. I don't think they're even recognized as any type of physician in some states!
