Yep, 900 bucks was for my 1-2 inch long scratch with the bumper popped out. Cosmetic damage only. All lines on the trunk lid are tight with only a few MM of gap. In other words, its all for a scratch.

Gah, I got confused 'cause I don't live in a no-fault state. Anyway, I would say that you need to check out a different shop...

Sounds right. Some guy bumped my GF's car door in a crowded gas station last month. Nothing was damaged but the driver's door (his bumper was scratched but he declined to report it as his car was an old POS), but it had to be replaced and repainted and paint-matched. The bump was so minor that the glass didn't even have to be replaced even though the window was down when the accident occurred. Final bill to his insurance? $1300 bucks.

This small dent (which happened to me a bit over a year ago) cost the other driver's insurance $2200 bucks plus a rental car for me for 2 weeks. What you see is all the damage there was, but they had to replace the complete quarter panel and rear bumper skirt, plus repainting and paint-matching.

Well that is bigger then a small dent. You can definately see that.

Painting and paint-matching costs A LOT OF MONEY. The pain is not that pricey but the time to paint and the paint facilities are a b!tch on the car repair place. It isn't used all the time so your money goes in to paying for that also.

That panel didn't have to be replaced though. They could have beatened it out properly. My dad did that for 10yrs and is very skilled at it but hey you were claiming on their insurance so might as well get the whole panel done 😛
