How long does it take for you to get your car fixed and up and running after getting into an accident?

that varies soooo much. One time I got hit, the insurance companies dealt with it in 24hrs.

This last time, it's been like 3 months. my court date is in early jan.

Nah, not really. If you have collision on your car, your own insurance company will repair it. Then your insurance company will battle the other insurance company for the cost they had to repair it for you. Deductible waved. If you are liable for the accident, then they fix your car anyway but with a 250-2000 dollar deductable stated on your policy. Just as long as you keep bugging your insurance company, you should be able to have it fixed with-in a time span of 2-4 weeks.

I hope you are covered for a rental car on your policy as well.

If you don't have collision or rental service, your SOL and just have to wait to get a settlement from the other insurance company which could take months depending on if the person liable pleads guilty on the traffic violation. Then, like the member posted above, you have to wait for the court date. And courts are always backed up for months.

My car got totaled two sundays ago and im still waiting on them bastards...... Gimme my check biatch!

Yeah, and don't forget I think you only have 36 hours to report claims to your insurance company after the accident happened. Fraud these days.

Nah, not really. ...

Go talk to a body shop and ask if the insurance company matters... You may be quite surprised. Some companies are notoriously bad at paying claims; others are quite good.

In the face of classic delay tactics, consumers find little recourse or remedy from the Texas
Department of Insurance and have few alternatives. Many of the individuals who filed
complaints were forced to pay damages out of their own pocket, turn to their own
insurance companies or forgo repairs altogether.
