Few days ago I went up to vancouver for a short trip. Apparently all the Chinese immigrants there are incompetent drivers. I was browsing around richmond for a place to eat. This 68 years old grandpa was pulling out for a left turn from a car parking lot. I think I was about 10 feet in front of his car when he decided to pull out. I t-boned his car at about 5-10 mph. Luckily my airbag didn't come out.
I called the cops, they arrived in 20 minutes and didn't do anything. They left in like 2 minutes and gave me a file report number. No tickets were given to that guy.
I got a 3rd party witness who gave me his phone number.
Now my question is, is it very troublesome to claim canadian insurance drivers in the States? Since the cops didn't write any tickets on the spot, should I be worry that I won't get the claim?
Some other insights I get in my short 2 days trip in Vancouver:
People can turn left on red (happened twice)
The definition of yield is the exact opposite than the US definition.
