This co-worker of mine has some of the weirdest ideas ever. Some are just different ways of looking at things and some are just INSANE.

His son was just in a minor fender bender, the person rear ended his car and from the looks of the pictures he showed me its nothing more then just a replacement of the bumper and w/e is under there. The son barely felt it. But he advised his son to hit up his family doctor so he can get a free doctor's visit and not pay the co-pay. He is also going to a back doctor the following day for a FREE exam and adjustment...

I've been in 2 auto accidents but never needed doctor's visit. How the heck does this work? Is the other guy's insurance going to pay for this? D: even if its a BS claim? Are we always suppose to go to the doctor?

Insurance will pay for it (the other guy's insurance, assuming he is insured). That's part of the reason that insurance is required...

I'm not in the "run to the doctor for everything" category; however, I see no reason to not have your kid checked out free of charge if he was rear ended and you want the piece of mind. Even low speed accidents can cause whiplash.

If you don't want to worry about "BS" claims don't drive like a special needs person. Rear ending people is 100% avoidable every time if you maintain a safe following distance for the conditions and pay attention.

Any doctor/chiro visit due to injuries resulting from the accident can be attached to the insurance claim. If you're found at fault then your insurance will cover it or theirs if they are at fault.

This is commonly abused by people looking for a quick paycheck if they know the other party is going to be at fault. They'll milk it by numerous doctor visits and request a referral to a chiro. This could last months and at the end they'll ask for pain and suffering and any lost wages on top of all the medical expenses. They probably won't ask for too much, just enough so that the insurance will settle the claim without much issue.
