I have a new car (my poor baby) and I was sitting in the red light when I was hit hard from the back by a pickup truck.

There was a good amount of damage done to the entire back side. It's obviously the guy's fault. There was also another driver involved and I ran into his back. It scratched his back and my front. The damages to other cars are very minor :|

I asked the guy at fault and he said he has liability insurance which should take care of everything. His insurance company is USAA fyi.

The car is still driveable but do I have to drive my car to work for a week or more like this? I was told that it would take about a week until the police report is ready. I filed the claim with my insurance company already. Any advice on getting my car professionally fixed? I need it replaced with genuine parts.

Call your dealer and get a quote. Let your insurance company handle all of the peperwork. Drop it off to get fixed tomorrow. No need to wait for the police report to be finalized.

I have to go to work tomorrow morning and the insurance company is calling me tomorrow about getting the car repaired.
I want to get it done from the manufacturer of the car with genuine parts, that's possible right? I need the front and back benders + other parts replaced.

Most insurance companies would get you a rental.
When some idiot hit us, they paid for the rental until they cut us a check. (It was totalled.)

Take it to your dealer in the morning. they should use genuine everything I would imagine. You should also be getting a rental car paid for by the insurance company. Your dealer's autobody shop should coordinate having the rental waiting for you there.

Its very likely the insurance agency will make you take it somewhere other than the dealer. A lot of dealers can't do the body work either in my experience.

Not necessarily make you but you may not have a choice. The insurance company will come out a take a look to decide what the damage should cost to fix. They will use their formula's which do not include original parts from the OEM manufacturer, the industry just doesn't work this way. You are going to get aftermarket and used parts, which there is nothing wrong with aftermarket(for the most part) or used undamaged parts. FYI their isn't anything wrong If you insist on that then you will pay the difference. If it cost $1.5k at a normal, quality body shop, and the dealer wants 2.5k then you are going to pay that difference.

For the rental, if you pay for rental coverage in your policy call you carrier, tell them you were in a wreck and need a rental while it's fixed. They will pay for your rental. If not, you pay for it. If you don't you can wait until the report is finalized, the other guys insurance company completes their investigation, and finally agrees it's their responsibility to pay. In my experience it's much easier and quicker to let your insurance company pay and then let them go after the other guys insurance to get their money back. This is what I have always done and never had my insurance go up. Even though they are paying it wasn't your fault so you are not penalized. The only downside of this method is you have to cover your deductible, which you get back in the end. (I keep mine at $250 so I don't care)

USAA is insurance for Military and their families.

The guy is going to hunt you down and kill you, if you try to make a claim.

My advice.... forget about it.

Insurance company of the at fault will contact you and provide a list of places that they approve. Using those places will ensure that you have no out of pocket costs and the repairs are usually guarenteed for life. The insurance company and/or repair shop will also set you up with a rental.

If you choose to use another shop; you will have to accspt a check for the damage estimate and handle the repairs/payment with your shop.

In a brand new car??? Why are you dealing with this guys insurance... Pay your deductible, you'll get it back after the two insurance companies have argued over whatever and get your car fixed.

Lots of idiots in here.....

OP, when I got rear-ended in my 8 month old GTI last year I just looked online to find the best bodyshop that specialized in Euro body repair (found it on a BMW forum) in OC and took it there. Had the other lady call them up with her claim number and was set to go from there. I dropped the car off at the shop (parked next to an M3, E55, SLK55, F360 and a 911T) Enterprise came and picked me up and I had a 2010 Malibu with 20 miles on it as a rental for a week. Couldn't have been any better.

You could take it to your dealer, but they will most likely just refer you to where they send all of their cases. In my case, the shop I found was the same shop my local VW dealer used to it was win win for me.

USAA is usually pretty nice to deal with. My car was hit in a parking lot by a woman with USAA. I called up their insurance, gave them her info. They called the woman and confirmed the story, then called me back and we worked out the details of where I could take it and when. The whole process was painless with no out-of-pocket expenses on my part. My insurance company wasn't even involved, and unless USAA or the other driver disputes your story (which it doesn't sound like they will), you may not need to get your insurance involved either.
