Myself and some friends have made videos of some parties we've had, and I thought that it would be a great idea to make a video of the greatest bits, and give it to everyone on CD when we all go separate ways to uni this summer.

I have a Hauppauge WinTV card, and set it up for input, but i have yet to find a piece of software that i can get to do what i want. Windows Movie Player will only work with WMV8, and it runs my Athlon 1.0@1.467GHz with 320mb ram at 100% CPU usage and skips a little! :Q I tried Intervideo WinDVR but the trial only let me record 10 mins at a time, but not using DivX, only MPEG2.

So, what software could I use to encode in DivX or MPEG2, and doesn't have a 10min limit?

Thanks in advance

There are countless free DivX encoders out there. If you want mpeg2, try bbMPEG.
