What is a good DV capture software? Preferably freeware.

For some reason I thought you could just "copy" the DV from the camcorder using firewire but I can't figure out how to do it in XP.

Thanks.

Do they just do the same thing then?

Surpose there isnt really much to do apart from capture it to the computer :D

Or is there alot you can do with Premiere?

you can do a lot with premiere or avid but that type of software usually has a pretty steep learning curve. personally, the only reason i have/use premiere is because it came in a bundle i purchased.

for just simple fades/edits the simpler software is excellent and to be honest, imo, just simple fades make the video look nice, which in my case means that premiere is incredible overkill.
