I have cable television and want to capture it with my 7800 GT's VIVO capability (BFG OC.)
What kind of adapter(s) do I need in order to capture both audio and video at relatively high quality?

I guess I need something that will convert it so I can plug into the line in on my sound card? (audigy 2 value)

btw the cable is not digital or anything special just coax in the wall.

I am totally clueless in this area if you could help me out.

also any free recording software / tivo like software you recommend?

Thanks.

If your cable is hooked up to a VCR or DVD player say, you could use the AV out jacks on either one and connect those to your comp.

The problem lies in your video cards capabilities most likely.

If your coaxial cable is based on Radio, you'd need to demodulate it, and the video card won't do that (neither will a simple converter).

TV cards are made for this. Also, though, I'm pretty sure your cable box, or a VCR you may want to hook it into, will do this for you.

Cable -> Cable Box -> VCR/Good TV/Component box -> Video card.

Otherwise:

Cable -> Cable Box -> TV Card
