i used the wrong drivers right away for my capture card and video worked but sound didnt. then i tried uninstalling the drivers and using the correct ones and now the video capture driver says there is an error, and the error says that access is denied!!! if anyone has a solution please get back to me.

note: capture card is Pixelview Playtv Pro, which uses the BT878 capture device.

thanx dudes

Depends on the card, some capture cards require either an internal or external audio connection to the card.

Those that have TV decoders, yes. That again is because they don't do the sound processing themselves.
Barenaked frame grabbers (consumer grade stuff) don't handle the audio at all.

yes of course but tv card outputs the audio through its own ports and then i have to route it through to my line-in (or mic).... thats not my problem however. if it was that simple i wouldnt have messed with this board. im just wondering if anyone else has encountered an error when installing drivers for a device that says "access is denied." and won't let you install the drivers. anyway peter this has NOTHING to do with audio.

if you want to see the card yourself, its here (im not linking it coz of quick reply): http://www.prolink.com.tw/english/products/multimedia/playtv pro.htm

alright it has to do with the video capture drivers of the device.

anyway later

oh yeh now that i have time im going to try switching pci slots..... dont know why but i have a feeling that might be the problem.

later again

Not really. All that gets you is a fresh chance to install the drivers - because Windows keeps the driver registry per-position, not per-unit.
Your "access denied" thing might be because the old driver is still there and running, file in use, hence no overwrite access.
