Capture card question

I've never looked into capture cards so bear with me, do capture cards just record tv programs? Or can they be used for like recording ingame movies, video tutorials, etc?

Well, as long as the source is external to the PC, sure. If you mean recording 1942 while you're playing, no. At least, not without some serious finangling... There's software out there to do that without the need for a tuner card (I think XP has it built in...)

If you get one of the later All In Wonder cards, you will have a bunch of connection options. Mine has SVideo, Fire Wire, Coax, and component video inputs.

You can also record the computer´s own output ... when your graphics card has TV-out, you can feed that back into the capture card to record it. Of course, recording eats CPU and disk resources, so playing while the same computer is recording won't be as much fun as usual.
