Pretty standard debauchery but then I noticed the name of his ship 😀

The Navy issued a statement Saturday, saying, in part, "production of videos, like the ones produced four to five years ago on USS Enterprise and now being written about in the Virginian-Pilot, were not acceptable then and are still not acceptable in today's Navy. The Navy does not endorse or condone these kinds of actions."

what a moron. I watched that vid and I would NOT want that guy commanding a fishing trawler let alone an aircraft carrier.

I am betting someone wanted the Enterprise job and lost out and this tape just now leaks out. :whiste:

To be Captain of the Enterprise is a big deal in the Navy.
But as said, this is not very becoming of an officer, let alone a now/former Captain of a ship like the Enterprise.
 
I think he should be reprimanded, but this is nothing.

The problem is that this only scratches the surface when it comes to the kind of crap that is bandied about on ship. If he came out with a "comedy" akin to a PBS daytime childrens special and tried to get his shipmates/underlings to watch it would achieve nothing.

But coming out with this AFTER he has become the captain and trying to get him taken down? What has he done that was illegal? Has he done anything inappropriate since becoming captain?

If neither of my two conditions can be proven, he should be repremanded and we can get on with our lives.

We have already spent more time and effort just reading about it than it was worth.

Sorry, there are too many other competent officers in the Navy to keep this guy in command. It doesn't matter the severity of his actions really, it matters that there are other people who can do the job who aren't laden with scandal. Sucks for this guy but he should have thought ahead. I hope he enjoys driving a desk, his days of driving aircraft carriers are over.

The news story I saw last night about this had many previous crew members defending the Captain and applauding the videos as great morale boosters.

Of course, the "PC Police" will be all up in arms over this silly stuff...🙄

And how many would come forward and speak out against a sitting captain that could control their career?

And again, this is not PC, its the Navy and what he did was well under the area of behavior unbecoming a officer, let alone a XO at the time and Captain now.
 
I'm indifferent. Most of us aren't stuck on a boat for months at a time with guys who sole purpose in life is to blow shit up or kill people. So what is reasonable stress relief to them probably has a much different perspective than it does to us.

Stupid, yes. Wrong or worthy of firing? Nah. Can't fault them.

Commanding officers should know that they're a dime-a-dozen and can be easily replaced, for any reason. They should also know that their bosses are civilians who have to answer to the general public.
 
for some reason these military police types have a propensity to waste taxpayer time/money doing stupid things like this. here in sf a few years ago they had a case of a bunch of cops, including the chief making vulgar and racist videos. when they showed them on tv they werent even clever or funny, just stupid, unfunny and hateful. its pathetic that people that dumb are cops

making idiot videos is stress relief? an aircraft carrier is like a city, they have all kinds of recreation, entertainment and other things to do. also i can imagine its good for morale for everyone on the ship to know they have a total jackass in charge of things
