Just got done seeing the latest Captain America movie, and it's actually not too bad. It plays out a lot more like a spy/intrigue movie than your usual Marvel movie. Although, one thing I'm wondering about...
wasn't the Winter Soldier "created" by the Russians? That's why he has the red star on his arm. However, in this movie, he was created by Hydra.

Just saw it too. My favorite Marvel movie next to Iron Man 1.
Bucky was originally picked up by the Russians. That's why Scarlett Johanson had that Russian file at the end

Need to watch it again. So many hidden references in the movie.

Also the movie tied up with the TV show perfectly. The TV show was meh up to this last week and now basically everything makes sense.

Please use our spoiler tags. As demonstrated above, they actually work.

I'll see it. I didn't like the first one much though, so my expectations are kind of low

Saw it yesterday evening and agree with Aikouka. It was good but wasn't really what I was expecting. Less a "super-hero movie" and more of an spy action thriller.

It's so different than the other Marvel movies, IMO, that I can't "rank" them. This one stands alone, IMO.

Can't wait to see where AoS takes it from here.

Glad to hear this is a good one. Capt. America has always been my favorite superhero, probably a manifestation of my love for this country, because there is no doubt there are cooler heroes...lol

Oh, and to let anyone know, as what seems to be common with Marvel movies these days, there are two post-credits scenes. The first is after the fancy credits and
serves as more of a lead-in to the next Avengers
and the second
deals more with the Captain America 2 story
. Neither of those are really spoilers, but in case you don't want any hints as to what the post-credits scenes are, I blacked them out anyway.

I guess the movie just wasn't all that clear as to what happened to Bucky. In the comics, he is picked up by the Russians and turned into the Winter Soldier. In the movie, they showed the creepy Hydra doctor guy being the one that put the cybernetic arm on him and froze him. As for the file, I assumed that it was just a Russian intelligence file.

Yeah I've heard nothing but good things, but I oddly have zero desire to see this. I found the first one pretty boring and I assume this one will be no different.

It's really different. I wasn't a big fan of the first but this one gives a huge Tom Clancy, Bourne vibe. Cap never felt overly superhuman either. He was just strong and fast.

Definitely going to be seeing this. I actually wasn't a huge fan of the first Captain America, but I liked the casting choices.

I just really, really, really hope they do a Captain America dies storyline so we can bring back Thomas Jane as the Punisher! In case you can't tell, I really want another Punisher movie. Dirty Laundry made be blow my load. =(

I would love to see a new Rated R Blade movie now that Marvel took the rights back. The first Blade was awesome. The rest however sucked.

Never saw the first one, the Captain America hero always seemed the lamest in my opinion (compared to Batman, Superman, and Iron Man). Was the first one any good?

If they really just did a reboot in the Marvel Universe with Blade, it would be nice. However, I don't think they would. Really, who besides Wesley Snipes could pull that off? Michael Jai White?

The mid-credit scene was pretty good.

I didn't think the post-credits scene was worth sticking around for.

I think the post-credits scene is a bit of possible foreshadowing.
It's important to consider that after Rogers "died" after the events of Marvel's Civil War, Bucky took up the role of Captain America. It's quite possible that they may do something like "kill off" Rogers in Avengers 2, and have Bucky take over. It's a bit of a long shot, but Chris Evans has expressed that he'd like to get more into directing. The reason why I get into this is that the last scene showed that Bucky saw himself in the Captain America memorial, and combining that with how he saved Rogers, there's a good chance that he'll become a good guy like he did in the comics.

On a similar subject, (this will be tagged because it relates thematically to the prior stuff, but there are no Captain America 2 spoilers)
I really, really hope that Marvel switches actors in a good way. For example, Robert Downey Jr. has expressed that he may not continue acting in the Marvel movies. I wish they they would consider weaving this into the stories rather than just replacing an actor. For example, if Evans wants to retire from the Marvel movies, just have Rogers killed off and Bucky take his place like in the comics. If RDJ wants to retire, ... well, I'm not sure what to do since Tony Stark has never really given up being Iron Man. I mean... he gave a suit away to certain people at times (like Pepper), but he's still Iron Man.

I just really, really, really hope they do a Captain America dies storyline so we can bring back Thomas Jane as the Punisher! In case you can't tell, I really want another Punisher movie. Dirty Laundry made be blow my load. =(

Well, it's plausible depending on Evans's contract. He's expressed that he wants to get into directing, and if Evans wants to focus more on directing (note: he didn't say he was quitting acting), then he may want to avoid such long-term commitments like being in the Marvel movies. Although, I don't recall The Punisher taking up Captain America's proverbial helm. Someone else does, but I won't talk about that since it sort of relates to the movie.

I liked the first half of the first movie, but the second half was fairly dull. I always like heroic characters in movies... like how Steve jumped on the not-so-live grenade.

After Captain America "died", Bucky took his mask and Frank Castle took his shield. Eventually, Frank agreed to let Bucky have the shield and become Captain America (the items might be swapped, I can't recall). Frank was "Captain America", at least for a time. And, having Captain die, Frank find the shield at the end of the Avengers 2, and a new Punisher move come out WOULD BE AMAZING. He could even give it to Bucky and go back into retirement at the end. I'd be perfectly okay with that.

Understand about the foreshadowing and possible relation to future movies. But it was way too short and uninteresting. It would have worked better as an ending to the main movie as opposed to an "extra scene".

I think it may be one of the best of the Marvel movies. I want to see it again to take it all in.

I don't know the tie in story, but I would love to see another Punisher as well. Dirty Laundry was just awesome sauce.
