Today when I opened up my case to clean up, I notice the top of the two capacitors around the Socket A are almost pop open. However, the system is quite stable, no special BSOD or crash or hangs.

So I get my mobo RMAed just in case? What happen if those caps' top all pop open?

Thanks.

IceT, I have not had the same experience w/ "poped" caps, but if I were you, I'd RMA that board, better to be safe than sorry later on, hope this helps :)

In my experience, it's a sign of too much juice going to the caps. Keep it up and the metal tops will pop off, possibly denting the case when they do, and filling your case with a bunch of paper/cardboard strips and that wunnerful burned electrical smell. If you can RMA the board I'd do it now to save the cleanup.

Is it an ABIT board? i have heard of this issue before on ABIT motherboards. namely the KX7 I believe.. but it could be on other ones too I guess! I would TRY to get the board RMA'd but likely you wont be able to if there is technically nothing wrong with it. which you say is the case. that would scare me enough to eithe RMA or buy a new mobo all together.

It's just a board I bought from last year, MSI K7T Turbo Ltd. Oh god, my warranty for the board is over! So that means I have to buy another board or possibly have to upgrade before the caps blow up :(

Thanks a lot for all your help!
