Could an Evga GTX 285 run modern games like Fallout 3 and the like at 19xx by 12xx resolution without too much FPS loss? Thanks for any ideas on this.

Yes it can. I've got a GTX 260 overclocked and it will play anything but Crysis and Stalker Clear Sky max setting with 2x or no AA. There are plenty of review sites out there that have covered them.

This.

It could come as a surprise for you, OP, but even anandtech has a review about gtx 285.
Here, a bit of google ( 2 seconds of it) has revealed a couple of thousands of reviews about gtx 285.

I wondered when this would get posted. I've seen dozens of reviews of the GTX 285, yes, even the one here at anandtech. Not all reviews use the same games, the same resolution, or have the same system setup as me. I'm sure some of them might, but asking here to get some real life experiences and opinions does no harm also. Thanks.

A gtx 285 is made for that resolution. There is no sense in getting one for lower resolutions, so, as long as you don't own a crappy cpu, then it will fly in all your games at 1920X1200.

I believe GeForce 8 solved that limitation, correct me if I'm wrong.
