hi, i already have a omni directional booster antenna by d-link. but it seems that its still not enough, i can't get a steady reception about 50 feet away. i live in a condo, so i think there's a lot of other noise around so that's causing such poor performance. i am thinking of adding a cantenna to the existing booster antenna, will this help/work?

should i just put the booster antenna inside the can and point it to the remote location?

thanks.

Booster Omni do not really Boost.

If you are transmitting to a spcific direction, take off the Omni and put a directional Antenna.

Agreed, Omni-directional antennas are bad. Not only do they spew a pattern of garbage in a donut like shape around them (axis is like a vertical line drawn through the hole) but they can also receive other garbage much better and from a much wider pattern. Like JackMDS said, get a directional antenna -- some of the 90 degree ones offered at www.pacwireless.com are fantastic, and not terribly priced!

Oh, one last note -- this makes the presumption that the wireless radio in your laptop/desktop can transmit enough power (cleanly) to push through to the antenna. Without that, it's a lost cause either way.

Good luck.
