can't write to usb hard drive on Windows 7

I can't seem to write to my Music folder on my external USB hard drive with Windows 7. I am running as Administrator account but Administrator group or account isn't added to the ACL on the Music folder! I only see Everyone group with full read privileges and 2 ghost SID's that probably used to be Admin group/accounts from older windows install. How do I add admin write privileges to this damn folder on Windows 7?? I'm already an Admin but I get Access denied when I try to write to folder or add Admin group to ACL in Security tab!! this is so frustrating! thanks for the help

Right click on the folder and exercise TAKE OWNERSHIP.

Make sure you are "plugged into back USB" or a powered hub. I have had usb get quirky when using front connectors.
