Ha!

I don't even use any mod or neon stuff. If you click the link for my main squeeze, it is in a plain black case... LOL

I just think it is so kewl. no pun intended. I think it will really work out for me. And yes, it does look weird.

:)

edit: i would go for the blue/black.

opinions on the product?

I like the green one....... but I haven't got many to buy it... now.

Thermaltake "crap" makes very good products sometimes. For example: Silent boost/Volcano 12 which are better than Thermalright SLK800...

Ok, I am not an authority on cooling products. I usually buy the case, ask for a PSU and whatever comes with it is all I get.

But I thought this as a great idea. Guess I am showing what I n00b I am at this stuff. As for the colors, well.... I am not into glowing or neon anything. And if it came just plain black with no lights or anything fancy, I would be happy with that.

I see many ppl here that are not thrilled with ThermalTake. Can I trouble you further to tell me why? And if I can stretch upon your time even further, tell me what the best is?

If you click the 'main squeeze' in my sig, you will see what I am trying to get a cooling solution for. I currently have this case:
case (of course it was over $100.00 when I got it three months ago :( )

Whatever fans are in the pics there, is what I have with a 400W PSU. (please scroll all the way down to see the pics).

Suggestions on power and cooling are appreciated.
And thanks for your time and help.

:)

bit tech review

that TT hunk of junkPS vs. a silverstone PS

Oh dear, where to start? With the blue anodised heatsinks which can only be seen through some tiny holes in the back of the supply? With the most pointless window to appear in any product ever? With two, not especially bright, LED's which change colour in an annoying fashion? No, let's start with the worst paint job I've seen on a retail product:

The matt black finish on this supply isn't particularly pleasant as matt blacks go, but it looks as though Thermaltake were so keen to get this supply to me that they thought they'd skip the on letting the paint dry before assembling the supply. Along many of the edges of the supply paint is missing (as shown above) and any painted areas which come into contact with other parts of the supply also tend to be missing paint, under the screws is a good example:

While he might have some valid points on the item, it seems to me that the reviewer doesn't like anything made by thermaltake. I dont know enuf to agree or disagree with the dislike of the company, but I kinda get the feeling that he would not like it no matter how good it was and looked for stuff not to like just cause it was thermaltake.

Again, not saying I know, cause I don't. This is the first PSU I have come across that has the blower fan and it seems to be cool. If there are better products that do the same only better, I am open to seeing them.

thanks for posting that. enjoyed reading and learned some stuff about PSU.

I hate ThermalTake. I have owned things from PSUs to temperature sensors and they all are cheaply built and SUCK!!!! The temp sensor's wires ripped, I soldered it back together, then a month later, the screen just turned all black. About the PSU, dont even ask. It killed my 10GB HDD, and CDRW. Luckily, this was just an old backup system.

Ok, the more I read, the more I find that ppl don't like TT. What do you suggest then. I am ot that concerned about price, but do want the best bang for my buck. I need a PSU and also need a CPU heatsink and fan.

thanks so much,
:)

Well, I guess I am not going for ThermalTake products.

I recently purchased a whole bunch of case fans. They are Vantec Stealth. I am really happy with how quiet they are.

Now, with my luck I will find them to be a crap company, too. :)

I will look into the Antec, since they are so popular with you guys.

As for heatsink? Dunno, that will be tougher. I need one for the AMD XP 3200+ and with the dual power thingy on the motherboard I gotta be real careful with size and space.

:)

Personally I like the idea of a power supply that flashes different colors (except I could do without the pink ...). However, that thing has 18A on the 12V rail. I can't live with that.

I can only find one place that sells it. And they are in Canada. I don't think I want to spend $200.00 plus shipping for it!

:frown:

Edit: I emailed the company. Here is what they told me:

"Hi,

I am very sorry for the confusion. The SAF520 will come in around the first week of December. We have sold out the old SAF520, ATX12V 1.2 version and decide to replace it with the new 1.3 version as the one on our site and other review site. Due to certain production problem, the new version was delayed. We will be sending this new power supply to our resellers when it come. If you wish to purchase from us directly so you don't have to wait for another 7-10 days, please let us know and we will put you on the back order list and e mail you when the shipement come in. If you wish us to send you the product when it come, please let us know your address and credit card info, we will send it to you as soon as it come in."

So, it looks like I will get one of these also.

HURRAY!! :D

Ok, Ok, Ok....

I feel a shopping spree coming on. What do you guys think of this?

CPU stuff

My only concern is the size. I have the Gigabyte Ga-7NNXP board and it has a dual power thingy.

Here is the board:

board

If you englarge the pic, you can see the slot for the dual power card. I am not sure if this cooling option will work.

but I want it!

i've used globalwin stuff before. really great does what its suppose to do and does it well. i would prefer their products over TT anyday.

that attachment power card thingy supposedly improves cpu voltage regulation providing a stabler OC

that has happened to my friend before. friends building another friend a computer. friend brings it home. finds out the heatsink snapped off the little lug thingy and landed on his video card. likely everything still works surprising
